About Me

Alessia Pisu is a Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics and Computer Science at the Università degli Studi di Cagliari, under the supervision of Daniele Riboni and Livio Pompianu. Her research explores the application of Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, and Blockchain to enhance workplace safety.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science (LM-18) from the Università degli Studi di Cagliari, where she graduated cum laude with a thesis on AI-powered football match annotation under the supervision of Alessandro Sebastian Podda. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (L-31) from the same university, completing a thesis on Deep Reinforcement Learning for financial trading, supervised by Salvatore Mario Carta.

During her Ph.D., Alessia was a Visiting PhD student at the Knowledge Media Institute (The Open University, UK), collaborating with Enrico Motta, Francesco Osborne, and Angelo Salatino. Her research at KMi focused on automated ontology generation from scientific literature, leveraging Large Language Models, Knowledge Graphs, and Scholarly Data Analysis.

Her broader research interests include AI-driven knowledge extraction, IoT applications, decentralized data certification via Blockchain, and automatic ontology generation.
